Professor Ryan Cayabyab, one of the Philippine's musical geniuses of our time, creates a masterpiece bringing together traditional Filipino songs and his own contemporary compositions, masterfully arranging each one as a choral arrangement. He caps his legacy by actually performing all the voices of each arrangement -- from soprano to bass -- forming as much as 16 voices in some songs. It is entitled "One" primarily because of this -- that everything was done by one voice, his voice, as an enduring legacy to his career as a Filipino musician. This album was launched in 1981, the first year of that decade, and is the first of a series of albums he brings out to the world, as a further highlight to the theme "One." The second was "One Christmas," launched in 1991. It is with pride and honor that I share this with you. Kuya George
In my opinion, this 1981 album was more meticulously developed and crafted. Feel free to comment. I would appreciate it.
god send ka talaga, 'tol.
This is Ryan Cayabyab's 1st solo project baby. He executed this the best way he can so the result wouldn't sound "trying hard" and "simply experimental". I believe he has done very well.
The One Christmas album was just not as thoughtfully crafted as this one, in my opinion. The Christmas album was probably done "for the Pinoy masses and its cultural references" and not "for the art of it". I guess this is the reason why this 1981 album sounded way much better.
Thanks, gmcorneby!
